Well hello there! My name is Jakob Kasey Smith. I would describe myself as your average run of the mill confused white male in his early 20’s pondering his own existence as he moves through his day to day life at a snails pace questioning what is true happiness and if peace love and happiness actually exists.
On a less depressing note and more serious note. I am a full time student here at Sacramento City College. I moved here to Sacramento in 2017 from a little place called Snowflake Arizona. Snowflake is a very small town in northeastern Arizona. I believe the population is only two or three thousand. Snowflake is also a town populated with a predominantly Mormon population. Growing up as a non member of the church in a town where everyone is a member of the church could be rough at times and would often impact my thoughts and get in the way and cloud my vision of how big the world really is and would make me forget that I lived in a tiny bubble of a town in the middle of nowhere. The one benefit this tiny little hell hole held was our community college. The local community school held a partnership program with the high school I went to and if students qualified with a high enough GPA they could opt to take classes at the community college. I worked hard enough to get into the CNA program. CNA stands for certified nurses assistant. So ever since my senior year of high school I have worked as a nurses assistant and it was then I realized my passion for working in the medical field. It has been my dream since I was little to be an E.R. nurse. Specifically for the option to be paid to travel the world and make amazing money while doing amazing things and helping save lives. If that isn’t the coolest job on earth than I don’t know what is. So I’ve been able to experience some amazing things most people never get to in their whole life. My favorite memory to this date has been my time spent working in the Emergency room at Summit healthcare Regional Medical Center. That was the most amazing job and experience I’ve ever had. The days can be long and chaotic but there’s nothing on Earth I’d rather do.
I came to Sacramento from Snowflake to further my education. Sacramento has an amazing community college district and nursing program market. I moved out here to live with my aunt. She’s a Nurse Practitioner at Mercy General Hospital where I also currently work. My aunt is my role model in life. She went from rags to riches thanks to hard work and dedication. No one in my entire family has gone to college except her. I’m only the second person to attend as the first born grandchild and oldest of 3 siblings there is a lot of pressure placed on me as I’m also expected to set a strong example and lead a proper life which at times can be overwhelming. I’m currently working full time as a care tech at mercy general hospital and attending school full time at Sacramento city college majoring in nursing. It’s my dream to transfer to Sac State and pass through their nursing program. In my free time I love playing soccer and being active. I’m pretty happy doing anything outdoors and can usually be found either hiking or fishing. I also love attending and seeing live music performances. If I could anything other than nursing I would love to be a musician.
I was raised by a single mother my whole life and saw my mom work multiple jobs day and night just to support me and my brother and sister all by herself. My mom hasn’t had the best track record when it comes to men. She has been in multiple very abusive relationships but has since recovered and moved on. As the oldest son I’ve come to realize I need to finish my education and get a degree in order to be there for my brother and sister and mother and show them not all men are bad. That’s just a little about me and I hope to get to know you all more!
